After the third inflatable slide of the season, the thrill starts to feel… deflated. You know the scene. A five-minute wait, a twenty-second slide, and then the kids are standing in line again, glassy-eyed, while the adults hover near the snack table.
One retired grandpa’s answer to the bouncy‑house blues: So there I was, retired, with time on my hands and grandkids who needed something to do.
I went looking for a people maze. Not the corn kind. Those are seasonal, muddy, and usually built for Instagram photos, not for a five‑year‑old who just wants to run and giggle.
Nothing. Zero. Nada.
So I did what any stubborn entrepreneur would do. I built one.
That was the start of It’s Amazeing. A portable maze made from sturdy panels and my own connector system. It goes up in a few hours. It changes shape whenever I want. And it runs on the one thing kids never run out of: curiosity.
Bouncy Castles vs. a Real People Maze
Bouncy castles are fine. I have rented them. You have rented them. But after the third one, they all blur together. Kids wait in line. They bounce for thirty seconds. Then they wait again. Parents stand around wondering why that costs more than a nice dinner out.
A maze is different.
It is not just active. It is a puzzle. Kids hit dead ends. They turn around. They yell “this way” even when they are wrong. And when they finally find the exit, they come out beaming like they just cracked a secret code.
That is the kind of interactive maze experience that keeps a group engaged for way longer than a quick bounce. It works for toddlers who just want to toddle through. It works for older kids who want to test their sense of direction. And it works for parents who get pulled into the fun, whether they planned to or not.
How It Works, Where to Find Us, and How to Book
The panels snap together with connectors I designed myself. We offer setups from 120 panels up to 300. Each layout can be easy, tricky, or somewhere in between. Tell me who is coming, and I will pick a plan that fits.
Because it is portable, we bring it to all kinds of places. Schools use it for fundraisers. Churches add it to community events. Festivals book it as the main draw. And if you are thinking about starting a vendor business, you can buy a maze outright and set it up wherever people gather.
Every Sunday in April and May, the maze is open from 2 to 7 pm. One Sunday in June, we are doing a full park day with longer hours.
Instead of repeating the same address over and over, I will just say this: we are based in Abbotsford, and our regular Sunday spot is easy to find. If you are in Mission, Chilliwack, Langley, or anywhere within about half an hour, you are close enough to come give it a shot.
For exact locations and any last‑minute pop‑ups, check our local event listings. That is where we post everything in one place.
One date worth circling.
June 6 is our MAZE in the Park, running from noon to 7 pm. This is one of those times the portable maze rental lands right in the middle of green space. The whole setup works beautifully outdoors. In fact, the maze can be set up in nature and hiking events, blending into a day of trails and open fields. It is a nice reminder that outdoor events and activities do not have to be the same few booths you have seen a hundred times.
What keeps me doing this?
I love watching families go through together. Parents and kids get turned around. They double back. They argue about which way is right. And when they finally spot the exit, they celebrate like a team that just won something.
It is one of the few games to play Outdoors that actually gets everyone moving in the same direction. Even when that direction turns out to be a dead end.
